FAQ's

How does offering an energy efficiency rebate program benefit my company?

With a growing focus on green initiatives and sustainable operations, corporations are recognizing the importance of including more environmentally conscious actions into their corporate culture. Offering energy efficiency rebates for your employees is a great way to increase employee satisfaction and can improve employee retention in a competitive job market. By partnering with C3, your company would be one of the early adopters of corporate based green initiatives designed to get employees engaged-putting you in a competitive position in growing global market.

How do our employees apply for a rebate?

The online application process is quick and easy. An application tool is customized for your company and housed on your Intranet. From there, employees apply and upload their receipts in four simple steps, reducing paper waste and processing times.

What kind of support does C3 provide to participating employees?
C3 provides customer support with a toll free number and e-mail address specifically for corporate clients. All e-mails and phone messages are returned promptly by knowledgeable staff responsible for processing the rebates.

Does C3 provide program analysis and results to clients?

C3 provides quarterly reports providing updates on employee rebate participation, greenhouse gas reductions and all accounting details. Annual reports are also provided to conclude each year with program details and updates. A payroll summary is sent out at the end of each month with a year to date total of all rebates processed. These reporting measures keep clients up to date and provide their accounting department with an accessible database for taxing.

Can I pick which rebates are available to my employees?

Yes. You can start with as many or as few rebate items as your company chooses. We suggest continually adding rebate items each year to keep the program fresh for employees and provide an additional incentive for those who have previously participated to continue to do so. As energy efficiency requirements change over time so will your program requirements.  Having the ability to add and remove products from your company's rebate program ensures that you can continue to offer beneficial rebates to your employees.

I would like to offer a rebate item to my employee that is not currently on your product list, can I add a product?

C3 focuses on energy efficient and environmentally beneficial products.  Any new product is subject to research to ensure its environmental beneficial and to establish appropriate rebate amounts and program requirements.  Any item you wish to add would be subject to additional costs in order to cover the administration and IT requirements of adding a new product to our tool and program documentation.

Can I set up this program for a limited time?

Yes, for example, the Eco Kit has been designed to be available to employees during a two week window in the spring and fall.  Many clients who offer energy efficiency rebates set up a multi-year arrangement with the potential to add or change products as they go.

Who currently uses this program?

We are currently working with Encana, Enmax, and Cenovus Energy, and have been operating corporate rebate programs since 2008. Our corporate clients are always expanding and we look forward to offering additional programs and services  in the future.

How can I promote this internally?

C3 provides marketing and communications support as required, including Lunch and Learn sessions, and can work with clients to develop internal promotions and marketing materials as needed.

What is the typical dollar value of a green spending account per employee?

Some corporations have no limit on the account; rather, they limit the number of rebates each employee can apply for.  Other clients have established green spending accounts that range from $600 to $1,000. The choice is yours depending on your needs and internal budget.

As a not-for-profit organization, how does C3 generate revenue to stay viable?

We charge fees for licensing and developing the products and tools, and a minimum transaction fee per rebate item. As a not-for-profit organization, all of our revenue goes towards program development, support and staffing. Any additional revenue is rolled back into our operations to achieve our core mandate of dealing with climate change and transforming the way energy is sourced and utilized.
