C3 EnviroTech Solutions Announces Joint Concentrated Photovoltaic Trial

Calgary, Alberta  - C3 EnviroTech Solutions is pleased to announce that it will collaborate with the City of Medicine Hat,  Sustainable Energy Technologies (TSXV: STG) and Opel International (TSXV: OPL) to install and monitor a Concentrated Photovoltaic (CPV) power generation system.  With funding provided to C3 EnviroTech Solutions by Western Economic Diversification Canada, this project represents a shared-cost partnership with equal contributions from industry, federal and municipal governments.

Concentrator photovoltaic systems are the next generation of solar technology, focusing sunlight onto much smaller photovoltaic receivers and reducing the amount and cost of silicon required.

The Medicine Hat installation will use Sustainable Energy's SUNERGYTM CPV inverter and state-of-the-art high concentration photovoltaic modules developed by Opel. The trial will serve to optimize and refine technological advancements of both companies, and will contribute to future cost reductions and improved performance of large-scale CPV projects.  This project is expected to save approximately 233 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over its lifetime.

The City of Medicine Hat, which owns and operates its own electrical utility, is exploring a variety of renewable energy technologies to expand its power generation portfolio.

"The high concentration photovoltaic demonstration will help us understand the viability of adopting this technology on a larger scale in the future," said Russell Smith, Environment Manager for the City.  "Opel and Sustainable Energy have approached the project with unique technologies that bring tangible benefits to system level performance and economics."

About C3 EnviroTech Solutions:  A non-profit organization run by Climate Change Central with a mandate to improve access to capital and assist entrepreneurs in the commercialization of environmental technologies in Western Canada.  Funding support for this project is provided by Western Economic Diversification Canada.  http://www.tech-hub.ca/

About Sustainable Energy Technologies:  Based in Calgary, Alberta, Sustainable Energy Technologies designs, manufactures and distributes power inverters for distributed alternative energy applications, including solar PV systems, small wind power systems and energy storage systems, such as batteries and stationary fuel cells.

Sustainable's SUNERGYTM solar inverter is an "extra low voltage" platform which offers several distinct advantages over high voltage inverters for grid connected solar PV systems, especially for thin film rooftop solar PV systems and for building integrated PV applications. http://www.sustainableenergy.com/

About Opel International:  With operations headquartered in Shelton, CT, OPEL designs, manufactures and markets innovative, state-of-the-art solar technology products designed to convert solar energy into electricity - at the least possible cost and greatest efficiency. The company's products are based on technology developed in cooperation with the University of Connecticut (Storrs, CT) and the Canadian National Research Centre (Ottawa, ON).  A leader in gallium arsenide and solar photovoltaic technology, the company has been awarded 23 patents and has 23 more patents pending.  OPEL's common shares trade on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol "OPL". http://www.opelinc.com/
