Bob Hawkesworth

Bob Hawkesworth was re-elected for a sixth time to represent Ward 4 in October 2007.  Bob's first experience on Calgary City Council, however, began in 1980 as Alderman for Ward 3 and continued until 1986 when he was chosen by his constituents to represent them in the Provincial Legislature as MLA for Calgary Mountainview.

In continuing his commitment to Ward 4, Bob presently sits on the following civic boards and committees:

  • Standing Policy Committee on Community and Protective Services, Chair
  • Standing Policy Committee on Utilities & Environment
  • Disaster Services Committee, Chair
  • Enmax Corporation, Board Director

Bob's interest in housing is reflected in his involvement with the following:

  • Co-chair, Canadian Municipal Housing Advocacy Network - Federation of Canadian Municipalities

Bob's leadership on environmental sustainability was acknowledged by his Provincial appointment as a Founding Director of Climate Change Central.

Bob’s accomplishments over the years have been recognized with a number of awards. In 1999 he received the AUMA Award of Excellence for outstanding service to municipal government in Alberta. Bob was a recipient of the 2000 Calgary United Way “Spirits of Gold Award” for co-chairing the Calgary Homeless Initiative. In 2005, Alberta Venture Magazine named Bob one of Alberta's 50 Most Influential People.

Bob has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta and a Master of Arts Degree in Resources and the Environment from the University of Calgary. He is married to Wendy Eastman and enjoys traveling and amateur photography.
